THE CHILDREN'S HOUSE

Montessori

To stimulate life, leaving it free, however, to unfold itself – that is the first duty of the educator.

Our aim at The Children’s House is to encourage and preserve the natural curiosity and joy of learning with which young children begin life.

We believe that the Montessori approach to early childhood education allows us to do this; by affording children the freedom and the respect to explore and learn about their environment in their own time, by exposing them to the wonders of the world about them, all the different people and cultures which inhabit it, and by helping them to achieve a sense of self-worth and dignity, respectful of themselves and each other.

ECCE Scheme & Timetable

We are happy to say we have taken part in the Early Childhood Care and Education scheme since its inception in 2010; this now enables us to offer your child 2 free years of pre-school education. To avail of these 2 years, you just need to enrol your child – we do the rest, and will ask you for the relevant information as needed when your child starts with us.

From September 2018, children will be eligible to avail of the ECCE scheme in the September of the year that they turn 3 years old, and they are entitled to 2 years of ECCE before they start primary school. For example, if your child turns 3 in January 2019 or December 2019, they will qualify for their 2 years’ ECCE from September-June 2019 and September-June 2020.

about-us

About Us

The greatest sign of success for a teacher is to be able to say, ‘The children are now working as if I did not exist’

Founded in 2004, The Children’s House is staffed by an experienced and enthusiastic team with 28 years teaching experience between us. Through continuing our professional development, Jess has just been awarded her BA (Hons) in Early Childhood Studies this summer (August 2022), in 2020 Sue completed her Masters in Early Childhood Care and Education, and in 2021 Roisin received her BA (Hons) in Montessori Education; we feel that together we are a very strong team to guide your wonderful children through their early years of learning and discovery!

Parents

It’s a real privilege to get to know your children, and we hugely value your input as your children’s guardians and primary educators, so we would encourage you all to take an active part in your children’s school life, and will invite you into the classrooms throughout the year. If there are some areas that you particularly would like to be involved in, please don’t wait to be asked – come in and talk to us about it!

We hold observation days and parent teacher meetings at set times during the school terms, but as always, if you have any questions or would like a chat apart from this, please feel free to come in at any stage.
